About Hawthorne Church of Christ
2024 Theme......We are building Faith, giving Hope, and showing Love!
(1 Corinthians 13:13) We extend to you and your family a continued invitation to join us each week for worship, spiritual development, bible discussion, and prayer. If we can serve you or answer questions regarding faith, family or fellowship don't hesitate to ask. We are ready to meet you where you are in life. Again welcome, be blessed and be a blessing! Most people are a little apprehensive about visiting a new church. We hope a few words will help set your mind at ease about visiting our congregation. The Hawthorne church of Christ is a growing, friendly church. We are a diverse congregation that reflects the fact that God's church is for all people. The crowd often ranges from babies (we have cry room to accommodate parents with infants) to those who have seen most of a century pass. Professionally, there are those from all walks of life-from blue collar to white-collar to students to retirees. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God (John 20:30-31), that the Bible is inspired of God (2 Timothy 2:16-17), and that Christ will return to take His kingdom home to God (1 Corinthians 15:24). We emphasize sincere worship (John 4:24), every-member evangelism (Acts 8:4), godly living (Titus 2:11-12), love for each other (John 13:34-35), and helping those in need (James 1:27). We believe the Bible teaches that sinners are saved by learning of Jesus, faith in Jesus, repentance of sin because of Jesus, confession of Jesus, and baptism into Jesus (John 6:44-45, John 3:16, Mark 16:15-16, Romans 10:9-10, Acts 2:38). Stanley “Stan” C. Harmon II has over 20 years of experience in ministerial preaching and teaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. He preached his first gospel sermon at the age of 16, which was approximately 5 minutes long. At the age of 18 Stan began his first work with the Kingman Church of Christ in Arizona as a full time pulpit minister.
After returning to California Stan began ministering throughout Southern California. He has participated in various men’s conferences, gospel and youth meetings throughout the brotherhood. Stanley is married to Helice Harmon and from this union they have two sons. After serving under the leadership of Bro. Vincent Hawkins for two years Stan became the minister of the Hawthorne Church of Christ on January 31, 2016. Stan’s ministerial philosophy is to deal with the struggle, and to lead Gods’ people to victory. He strives to encourage Gods’ people to be the best they can for Jesus. |
